Article by Michelle Whiting
Instruction videos and manuals for golf have made the new generation of golfers today have much more confidence and higher level of skills than before. The development of video as a tool for teaching basic and advanced golf skills has revolutionized the way people take up the sport and achieve great strides in a short time. Video can be slowed down so you can observe carefully how a stroke or swing is executed, or repeat the segment over and over again until you master the move. But most of these materials are made for right handed players and there seems to be a dearth of left handed golf video instructions. If you are a left handed golfer, chances are you have tried to get one and you failed. Many golfers like you have managed to hone their skills and lower their scores on the golf course by watching videos and reading manuals intended for right handed golfers. This may surprise you at first but realizing that you may not have any other choice, this could be the next best thing you can do short of finding an actual left handed golf video lessons.
The first thing you need to do when watching a right handed golf video is to mentally reverse all the information, tips and lessons presented there. While admittedly this is a difficult and tedious task, it will eventually benefit you if you keep at it. It is not impossible for lefties to learn from an instruction video intended for right handed golfers; you just need to be patient and focused. This mental exercise alone can work wonders for your concentration in the golf course.
The techniques you see may not immediately make sense but as you become adept at reversing from right to left the concepts and ideas that the instructors in the video show, it will eventually become easier and fun. You must not lose heart if you find it difficult to follow; all new golfers, whether right or left handed started that way. Do not consider being left handed as a disadvantage but a unique way to play the game.
