If You’re New To Golf, Here Are Some Simple Golf Tips To Get You Started

Article by Deane Alban

Have you just decided to take up golf? Or have you recently begun to play? Here are some essential but simple golf tips to get started on the right foot.

It is very tempting to jump in and buy a beautiful new set of expensive golf clubs. But don’t. Today’s golf equipment comes in a great variety for different golfing styles and abilities. Since you’re just starting out and really don’t know which type of clubs will suite you best, hold off on that purchase. Golf clubs aren’t cheap. You should expect to spend a few hundred or even thousands of dollars on a set.

If you get a set of clubs that doesn’t suit you, now you’re stuck. You can probably sell them, but it will be a big loss. If you absolutely MUST have your own clubs, start with a half set. This usually consists of five irons, two woods, and a putter. Get odd numbered irons – 3,5,7,9 – and wedge. This is plenty to get you started.

A better idea is to rent clubs or borrow so you can try out a few different ones. Once you are ready to buy, consider getting slightly used second hand clubs. Most pro shops and driving ranges sell them. They can give you advice and let you try out some different clubs.

You may meet fellow golfers that have their used clubs for sale, too. I again stress that you need know which clubs suit you before you buy. Don’t spend a lot of money at this stage.

You are probably chomping at the bit to playing an actual round of golf. Sorry, but don’t even think about going to a golf course yet. Without having gone through any type of golf training program, you’ll probably get very frustrated. Besides, it’s really not fair for the golfers behind to have to wait for you.

tart at a driving range, take a few lessons, and get the basics under your belt. Then, you can play a 9 hole course. As you improve your golf game, you can work your way up to an 18 hole course.

You can take golf instruction lessons at driving ranges and golf clubs. You don’t have to join a golf club to get a lesson from their golf pro. You can find lots of beginner golf instruction materials online. There are some excellent golf books, DVD’s, and videos on the market that will help you to establish the fundamentals of the simple golf swing: grip, stance and posture.

Here’s an important beginner golf tip – stick to the basics and don’t get blinded by too much science. Getting totally confused won’t help your golf game or your enjoyment of the sport, either.

Golf is a fantastic game. Take some time easing into it. You will find it a rewarding pass time, sometimes totally frustrating, and always challenging. Like many others, you may find it downright addictive!

5 Simple Golf Tips to Improve Your Game

Article by David Wakeman

We golfers are always looking for ways to improve our game. We will do just about anything to shave a stoke or two off our scores.

It’s an obsession…

There is so much information on the game of golf you could spend a lifetime pouring over all of the different golf swing techniques. Truth be told, there is so much information on improving your golf swing that even a professional golfer can lose his form.

Golf just doesn’t have to be that difficult. I mean really, the reason we love the game is because we can escape from the real world.

Why else are we out there for 4 or 5 hours on a Saturday or Sunday? It’s because we want to enjoy time with our friends and see if we can’t get through a round of golf without losing a sleeve of golf balls.

So how do we make this crazy game a little more enjoyable?

Here are 5 simple golf tips to improve your game…

Take time to prepare – When we head out the golf course, we know that we are going to be there for several hours. Take the time to get yourself ready for the day. Put the worries of the day, be it bills, work or the kids.

It really doesn’t matter, if you are thinking about that, then you are not thinking about golf. This simple golf tip is more important than all the rest!

Warm up – OK, I am no exercise nut, but even I know that if I stretch my muscles before I tee off my swing will be more relaxed.

By just taking 5 or ten minutes to do some basic stretching exercises before you head to the first tee, you have a much better chance of hitting a solid shot instead of the worm burner or banana ball we all dread.

Hit some balls – When you get to the golf course, if there is a driving range, get a small bucket of balls and hit 20 or 25 shots. Just taking the time to hit some balls before you start will give you a chance to get a feel for your swing.

Hitting 3 or 4 solid shots at the driving range goes a long way. Remember though, you are not trying to play muscle man on the driving range, just trying to get a few good swings in.

Hey, if there is no driving range, you can always find an area where you can break out a wedge and hit some chip shots. Give it a try; you will see a difference on the golf course.

Practice your putting – I have never been to a golf course where they didn’t have a practice green near the clubhouse or first tee. Yet, so many of us never take the time to hit some putts.

Pull 3 balls out of your bag and hit some putts. Make sure the golf balls you use are the same ones you are going to use on the golf course. I like to use a new sleeve of balls for this. That way I know the golf ball is not an issue when practicing. Get a feel for the greens and this will give you confidence on the course.

Plan your Round – This one may sound funny, but I like to break my round into six 3 hole sessions. We all know what are strengths are weaknesses are. My goal is to break 80 every time I play, but there are some courses that are more of a challenge than others.

I will look at the first 3 holes and decide what I want my score to be for those 3 holes based on my knowledge of the course and the strengths and weaknesses in my game.

Unless you are a professional golfer you are here for the sport not the money.

Give these 5 simple golf tips a go and take the pressure off your game.

Simple Beginners Golf Tips To Help Anyone Improve Their Game

Article by Golf-And-Tips

We’ve all taken a friend to play a round of golf only to find out this was their first time to ever play. A new golfer steps up to the golf ball for the first time in their life. As they bend over to tee up the golf ball their hands are shaking so much that they can’t keep the ball on the tee. Now they begin to take the club back and swing at the golf ball as hard as they possibly can. All the sudden you hear a whack because their ball hit a tree straight right of the fairway. At this point you might say “that was a pretty good swing. Try it again”. They are itching to give it another shot. The ball flies left of the fairway and into the woods bouncing around like a pinball machine. You’ve seen this before and I’m sure more than once. Too many of my friends and yours give up playing way too early. None of us want our friends to give up because they are so frustrated. I’ve decided to try and help new golfers enjoy the game more by giving them tips to help them play better.

In my opinion golf is one of the most difficult games to play. Just like any other game it takes time to develop your skills in order to play well. You must give of your time if you want to be a decent player. Practice whenever you get the chance to. Take several swings a day in order to develop muscle memory for your golf swing. Your short game is what will save your round of golf so make sure you work on it everyday. Work on things like chipping and putting. You can do this in your yard or on the rug in your house.

I have a passion for golf and I want to see this passion spread to others as well. I implore you to work on your game as often as you can and you’ll find yourself getting better and better. If a pro athlete works on their skills night and day to be a winner at their particular sport then obviously we amateurs must practice as much as we can in order to see any improvement. Anyone can accomplish their goals if they really have a desire to do so. Get out there and play golf and enjoy it because it’s a wonderful game!

Simple Golf Tips: How to Lengthen Your Swing

What better way to take out some frustration and enjoy a beautiful day than with a round of golf?

And doesn’t it feel great when you see improvement in your golf game and start lowering your score?  Even better, how good does it feel to win and beat someone good!

I’ve strived for that, and I know the importance of a good mental golf game and strong fundamentals.  So that’s why I want to help you.

For you golf enthusiasts and amateurs out there, learning proper golf swing mechanics is not only important but, if you take golf seriously and want to play on a whole different level, it’s essential.

So, to get you going, I’ve included some information from a course I’ve found very helpful in improving my golf swing, named Simple Golf Tips.  Your game should improve by simply incorporating this unique setup  routine below and position to every swing you take.

]]>

As you will see, this system really is simple. You’ll see positive results from this first chapter, but I want to be clear that this is not the complete system. There’s a lot more to this swing than a sound setup!

I recommend Simple Golf Tips for 3 reasons:

1. I truly enjoy helping people, and only recommend courses that actually WORK. If you prefer not to purchase the entire system, that’s fine. In fact, if you even learn one thing at all from the tips below, then I’ve succeeded.

2. To show you that this book includes unique material that is new and changing the way thousands of people swing the club. It’s not just a bunch of stuff that you already know.

3. To show you that this system really is step-by-step, and that you will be guided through the complete swing in the same easy-to-understand manner.

You’ll be pleased to find out that golf CAN be a simple game, and that YOU CAN significantly drop your handicap in just 1 short week. The “Golf Swing Guru” who produces this course guarantees it with a 90-day, money back, no B.S. return policy–and he sticks to it. Most courses I review do.  And most courses actually only offer a 60-day return policy, so the fact that this guy offers 90 days and will not back from it, is pretty dang impressive.

Hope you enjoy it.

6 Simple Golf Tips – Easy Ways To Learn How to Play Your Golf Better

Article by Martin Haworth

Here are some great ways to focus on your game that will make a big difference, almost immediately, if you take a little time to work them into your play.

1. Prepare Yourself Well

Mentally give yourself the time to start to calmly prepare for your game. This simple golf tip is to try not to rush to get there and be exhausted. More, it’s about giving yourself the space to mentally prepare for your game – and be at your best.

Whilst golf can be a relaxing experience, it’s also vital to remember that it is quite a strenuous exercise. True, you are able to take your time while you walk the 4 or so hours (unless, of course you have a cart!), but you also have to use a lot of energy both swinging your clubs as well as psychologically getting into the right frame of mind for every shot.

2. The Hands Have It

The second of our simple golf tips is to ensure that you get your hand muscles prepared as well. The most vital components of your golf swing are the two things at the end of your arms – your hands. Every shot depends on how well they are prepared.

By making sure that you have the time to get a few practice swings in – both the big clubs right down to the putter, your hands will prepare themselves to be in the right shape for a great game’

3. Swing, Swing and Swing Again!

Whilst on the topic of swinging to get your hands into shape, remember that every swing is the same, and yet every swing is different too. All the muscles in your body need to both relax as well as to develop those excellent muscle patterns that you will use through out your round.

So all your muscles can be warmed up with a focused and prepared stretch and swing routine, which will then give you every chance of making it without damaging yourself – as well as a great round and score too.

Swinging can effectively pull out any stressed or rigid muscle in the hand. It’s best to keep on practicing swinging. Experts say that almost 50% of a golfer’s ability is based on swinging.

4. Choose Your Club Wisely

One of the biggest distinctions between the great golfers and the adequate is how they use their clubs. you often hear ‘he’s a club short’, or he needed ‘half a club less’. The great players have perfected the art of having the consistency of swing and then matching that with the very best choice of club too.

That’s why one of the most important simple golf tips is to get your swing into order before you start and then club your shots accordingly. When you are not playing, but merely practicing, take time to ‘play’ with club selection to get used to the best ones to use in exactly the right circumstances

5. Get To Know Your Swing

It’s a common understanding that a golf swing has a number of components. When you are developing your game, understanding what is working well with your swing, and what needs attention, makes it useful to get to know all the elements of your swing.

The key components are:-

a) Club alignment
b) Setup of your position and posture
c) The back-swing
d) The backswing
e) The take-away
f) The follow through

Get to know them well and set-by-step recognize when each or any of the are not working well enough.

6. Know the course

If you want to succeed in your golf, it’s important to know all you can to make yourself effective. So far, we’ve looked at all the things you are in control of. Next up needs to be an understanding of what you aren’t.

The final of our simple golf tips, is to remember that the course may be unfamiliar to you, so it’s critical to your success to at least have a close look at it, even if you can’t walk it.

Most courses have a map where, if you are observant, you can make out those places where you might have problems and prepare yourself for them. No longer a blind swing and hope – now you are fully prepared for what the course can throw up for you.

These are just six simple golf tips that you can consider before you go out to play. By preparing properly, thinking about your game and getting to know what’s out there coming at you, you will have every chance of making the most of your game.

Remember, it’s down to you, and you alone. The difference in not in these tips, but how you personally take the time to use them.

3 Simple Tips for Golf To Improve Your Swing

Article by Dean Iggo

There are as many tips for golf swings as there are golfers. Your friends, relatives, and even people you just met on the course will offer you tips. The truth is, that there is a lot of disagreement even among pros, so how are you to improve your swing? Well there are three basics that are standard tips from pros. Keep them in mind and you will likely see improvement in your game.

Keep Your Head Still

It sounds simple enough, but one of the most common problems with amateurs and thus a common tip for golf is keeping the head still. With all of the other movements going on with a golf swing, it can be easy to let your head move around. Keeping it still will keep you looking at the same part of the ball without changing perspective.

Relax Those Muscles!

By relaxing your muscles, you can attain one of the most important parts of a golf swing: balance. Stand so that you are comfortable and relaxed while addressing the ball, by making sure that you can reach it easily. Remember, no matter which club or what distance you are swinging, what will make your swing powerful and smooth is balance. Of all the tips for golf swings that you might get, relaxing and maintaining balance may be the most important.

Keep the Head of the Club Traveling Straight Through the Ball

Again, it seems simple enough. Most people, in principle, realize that the club head must travel straight through the ball, but they don’t give it any thought when they are playing. Once you have balance and your head still, the only tip for your golf swing left is to keep the head straight. By striking the ball straight, you can get rid of that nasty slice so many beginners have.

Golf is a fickle game, which is why there are tips for golf online, in books, from friends, and pretty much anywhere you look. While pros may vary on swing theory, these three tips are fairly universal and should get you going in the right direction.

Good golf aids can be a great tool on their own. However, if you already take lessons, and you should, they will enhance the experience. You can use the aids you pick up or read to add on to the information you get form you lessons. You will be amazed at how fast a few lessons and some well selected golf aids will improve your game.

5 Simple Golf Tips Guaranteed to Fix a Slice

Article by Athena Mary

If you are a beginner novice golfer or maybe even a pro, you may be struggling with slicing the ball. Here are some good tips on what to look for and how to fix a golf slice using your driver.
1. Addressing the Ball
To make sure the ball goes where you want it you must address the ball properly. The main key is to make sure your left shoulder (if you are right handed) is pointed in the direction you wish the ball to go towards. By not checking this detail, you risk slicing the ball.
2. Fix a Golf Slice with Grip
Your grip is very important. A good grip is when you should be able to see a few knuckles of your left hand. By not gripping the club this way could mean you make a bad shot.
Also, you should not grip the club too tightly. A over tight grip can allow for a less than square hit with the ball. If your grip is too loose, the club could shake and radically influence where your ball goes, and as you guessed right, not where you want it to go.
3. Hip Position
Hip positioning is also very important. Many golfers face the problem of not connecting squarely with the ball because they fail to turn their hips during the shot. This causes the club to open which leads to errant shots, a slice being among them.
Practice proper hip rotation until it becomes natural. You will see a huge improvement when you make hip position second nature.
4. Fix a Golf Slice with Swing
The key here is control. If you allow yourself to become overly excited you can end up with a sloppy swing and a poor shot. Your club face being open at impact can result in undesirable outcomes.
Slow down! Let the momentum of the club hitting the ball generate distance. You can radically improve your accuracy and distance when you slow things down and regain control. This is why golf is a mental game.
5. Keep Your Head Down
When you take your shot, every golfer eagerly wants to see where their ball goes, how far it went, did it land on the green? For this reason, many golfers lift their heads too soon and this can cause a lot of problems with the shot.
The key is to keep your head down all the way through the shot for best results.
In another instance, players will lift their heads when their right shoulder hits their chin. an involuntary reaction your brain makes to clear your head out of the way. But this will result in a poor shot as well.
To solve this, train yourself to not move your shoulder too much during the swing.
Summary:
To master these tips on how to fix your golf slice, practice them every time you play golf. Make necessary adjustments when needed and soon you will see a great improvement in your overall game. Practice golf swing drills until they are perfect!

Simple Golf Tip Technique To Slice Strokes From Your Game

Article by Stan Thomas

I am a big fan of Tim Gallwey’s “The Inner Game Of Golf”. The following golf tip technique is one I stole from his book. I’ve tried it, it worked, and I wanted to pass it along.

Part of what makes golf so complex is undoubtedly the mental part of the game. There is constant battle for that time on the course to get your mind focused, alert, and relaxed. To me, it always seems when I win that battle – if you really can “win” it – then I play better golf. But, as anyone knows that has ever picked up a club, that is easier said than done.

A large part, for me, of enjoying myself on the course (and thus playing better) is letting go when something ‘bad’ has happened. If you allow yourself to ruminate over a poor shot, that has a domino effect that can destroy your round. Tension takes hold of your game, and there isn’t a thing that seems to go right afterwards. Been there?

Here is a very simple golf tip technique by Gallwey that I used for some great results. It doesn’t take a lot of time or effort, but stabilizes your focus while playing golf.

The golf tip technique is to simply associate or remember a simple task while having a ‘difficult’ task in front of you.

For instance, when you have a 15 foot putt staring you in the face, instead of thinking, “Oh God, I never make these damn things”, associate the shot with a simple task in your mind.

That simple task should be something you can do without a chance of failure. An example would be pulling the putter from the golf bag. By vibrantly associating the supposed ‘difficult’ putt with the simple task of pulling the putter from the bag, you’ve taken away the association of the dreaded act of ‘failure’ that is currently in place.

Just make certain that the task you associate with the ‘difficult’ one is something you cannot possibly fail. Gallwey’s suggested the simple act of picking the golf ball up from the hole, but you can make it anything easy and simple that you wish.

This golf tip technique takes away the tension that seems to mount when things begin to go bad on the golf course. It actually give you a fresh start with each ‘difficult’ circumstance that confronts while playing a round of golf.

And, I don’t know about you, but I’m all about those fresh starts. I can use a lot of them.
