for better contact.The next time you approach the ball,assume the
correct setup with your feet and knees in position and keep your head
and back straight,bend forward a little at the waist and look straight at the ball.If you take a swing in this position,your left shoulder will probably hit your chin.While keeping your eyes on the ball,lift your head slowly until your left shoulder does not hit your chin.Making sure that your head does not move from side to side by keeping your eyes planted on the ball.Slowly go through the backswing and downswing.Do not hit the ball and make sure to follow through.Practice your golf swing focusing on keeping your head straight and eyes on the ball.

, one must practice consistently. This is no different for putting. To putt better you must practice on fundamentals, which include green reading and developing a sense of feel for the golf green. If you are not putting as well as you would like, I would recommend doing two things. First, try out different types of putting grip styles. For instance, try out the claw grip or a grip with the left hand farthest away from you (for a right handed golfer). Second, you may want to consider getting a new putter. Along with doing these, try out a few putting drills as well. Here are a few simple putting drills for you to practice.

The Circle Drill

This drill is very popular amongst discount golf clubs professionals such as Phil Mickelson. To do this putting drill, you will need about five or six golf balls. Set each ball about three or four feet from the whole, in the shape of a circle around the hole itself. Try to make ten in a row before you stop. This drill will improve your putting in two ways. First, it will improve your short putting. Many amateurs seem to have trouble in this area. Instead of giving yourself five foot gimmies, why not actually make the putt instead? By doing this drill it will also improve your confidence in making numerous putts.

The Line Drill

This drill is great for those wanting to improve upon their distance putts. For this drill, you will need about four or five golf balls. Set up a “line” of putts, one behind the other. The balls should be about five feet apart. So for instance, one ball would be placed five feet from the hole, the next ball would be placed 10 feet from the hole, and so on. All of the balls would be on the same line to the hole. By having the balls on the same line, you will know how much the putt will break, thus allowing you to focus on your distance control Callaway RAZR X Irons.

The Head Drill

Are your putts never going along the line you intended them to go? It may be due to your head moving before you follow through on the putt. To fix this problem try what I call the head drill. When you putt the ball simply keep your head down the entire time. Do not look up at all. This is a very simple drill to do that can improve your putting stroke.

One of the most over-looked areas of golf by amateur golfers is golf psychology, and there are very few golf tips or golf drills that help you work on this vitally important area of the game.

The mental side of golf really can make a huge difference whatever level of golfer you are especially under pressure situations. It can also make the game a lot more enjoyable, which at the end of the day is why most people play golf…

There is an old saying that golf pros use which all amateurs can learn from – ‘Aim small, Miss small’

Hopefully it speaks for itself, but if you’ve not heard it before then let me explain. If you are aiming to hit a shot onto a green, pick a VERY small target to aim at. Don’t just aim for the middle of the green. Don’t even aim for an area of the green. Pick a target as small as you can (maybe even the hole itself if it’s accessible). This way if you miss such a small target by a small amount then you should still be in a good position. Similarly pick a small target when hitting onto fairways such as a sprinkler or even a blade of grass! This is a very simple golf tip to easily build into your game.

Making your golf more INSTINCTIVE

One of the biggest problems with golf is that we have too much time to think about it. We have a lot of time to think about our next shot while walking down the fairway and of course reflecting on a poor shot we’ve just hit. It is also a very static game in that the ball is stationery and we don’t immediately react to a competitor’s shot. I.e. We don’t do things instinctively.

Some of the best golf psychologists such as Dr Bob Rotella and Pia Nillson have been working to make golf more instinctive. We do so many things really well when we do them instinctively – i.e. when we are not thinking about them too much. But how can we make golf more instinctive when it’s such a static sport?

Instinctive golf drill

Here is a great golf drill I regularly use myself and which many of my students have learned from, and here’s how it works:

Find a putting green and work with three golf balls at a time
Work to a hole approx 8 feet away
Look at and focus on the target – the golf hole
KEEP looking at the target and really ‘ZONE’ in on it – totally focus on it
Now hit your putt while still looking and focusing on the hole. Don’t think of anything else – just focus on the hole all the time and make your stroke
When making your stroke consciously think of the target and not the mechanics of your putting stroke. You are trying to take away the conscious thoughts of the stroke by focusing on something else – in this case the target

This golf drill isn’t going to improve the mechanics of your putting stroke – you still need to work on this. However it WILL help you perform much better when playing a match and when faced with pressure shots – and not just putts.

Taking it onto the golf course

Clearly when playing on the course I don’t recommend you look at the hole while putting, and when hitting a full shot you need to be looking at the ball! So how can you make your golf more instinctive on the course?

The key is taking conscious thought away when playing a shot.

If you think about it you’ll realise that the human brain can only consciously think of ONE thing at a time. It can switch between thoughts very quickly, but at a split moment in time it can only think of one thing.

How to take conscious thought away

I learned this golf tip from a Jack Nicklaus interview and it worked really well for me. Jack used to whistle to him-self whilst playing golf shots (and apparently for a lot of the time between shots). I tried singing to myself particularly when putting and was astonished how much it improved my performance, particularly on pressure shots.

I start singing to myself just before I initiate a shot and then keep singing through the shot and focusing on it to remove any conscious thoughts about the mechanics of the golf swing itself.

I hope this golf tip and golf drill will help you improve your performance on the course not only when under pressure but for all of your golf shots. Once you’ve grooved it into your game the process should itself become instinctive.

Hitting the ball consistently well off the tee provides a significant advantage to lowering your golf score. Here are a few golf driving tips and practice drills to help hit the ball further and more consistently than you ever thought possible.

Golf Driving Tips ? Setup and Execution

Follow these golf driving tips on the range and even on the course to set up properly for your driver tee shots every time.

1.When on the tee box, try teeing the ball higher to produce a flatter, ascending swing arc.

2.In the backswing, strive for a full 90 degree shoulder turn.

3.Achieve a wide arc in the backswing; be sure to compete the backswing before starting the downswing.

4.When making the backswing, the large muscles of your torso should wind up like a spring as you turn against the right knee.

5.Key Golf Driving Tip! Make sure to ?lock? the right knee in place at the same angle as it is in the address position.

6.To start your downswing, shift your weight slightly to the left which triggers a chain reaction of the hips, chest, arms and club all pulling behind the ball.

7.At impact, try to ensure that your head is behind the ball.

Golf Driving Tips ? More Distance Drills

To help you ingrain the proper body position and feel for solid tee shots, here are two recommended golf driving tips drills used by top PGA teaching pros.

?Whoosh? Drill

1.Flip driver upside down and grip shaft just above club head.

2.Make normal swing with driver and listen for ?whoosh? sound from shaft on the downswing.

3.The whoosh sound should be heard after impact resulting from proper extension and acceleration through ball.

4.Practice the drill until whoosh sound is heard after point of impact. Carry over this sensation to full swing for more distance.

BENEFITS: Aids in proper extension and acceleration through impact resulting in more distance. Synchronizes torso, arm and hand movement through impact.

?Coil? Drill

1.Place driver vertically in front of you with club head off left instep. Place palm of left hand on end of club.

2.Assume regular address posture. Swing right arm to top of backswing position and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat drill 5 times.

3.Afterward, place club head off right toe. Extend left arm across chest and place palm on end of club.

4.Keep left arm extended and swing right arm through impact and release positions. Hold release for 3 seconds. Repeat drill 5 times.

BENEFITS: Promotes proper body turn from backswing through impact. Helps maintain proper spine angle in backswing and downswing for maximum power.

The game: In golf, before you start to play the ball, it must lie on the ground except when it is going to be for tee shots. There is what we call a target line. It is an imaginary line from the ball to the target and the golfer must be on one side of it when teeing.

Let us discuss some golf swing drills that might be of help to you. First off, we have the swing plane. This is the path that your club must take when you swing it. To be a steady golfer, this is one of the golf swing drills that you must perfect. Sometimes placing a laser while you are at practice will help you improve your swing plane.

Next we have the swing speed which refers to the swift movement of your club. Not everyone can swing fast.

Last but not the least of the golf swing basics is to exercise regularly. Your body must be properly tuned up to play golf so that you will always be at your best.

The next thing that you might be interested in is how to make your ball gain more distance. To get a lower score, the distance from the tee must be far. This is another must-know of the golf swing drills.

Here are some tips:

1. Hit the ball on the upswing. To do this, tee the ball higher and the ball should be positioned off the instep of your leading foot.


2. By working on your swing speed, you will be able to determine the amount of force that you are going to use when you hit the ball.


3. Use a flexible shaft if you think you have a low swing speed.


4. When doing a backswing, cock your wrists. Uncock your wrists as late as possible when you are on the downswing.


5. Twist shoulders 90 degrees to achieve the possible maximum distance.

Sixty percent or more of your golf score occurs within 100 yards of the cup. That is why golf instructors emphasize the importance of the golf short game including putting, chipping, bunker and pitching shot.

Though becoming an effective putter is probably the most important component of an effective short game, it can be argued that developing a solid game (for golf shots 60 yards and in) is close behind. If you can effectively pitch the golf ball as close as possible to the cup, then the potential to putt the ball into the cup in fewer strokes is dramatically improved!

Here are a few of our pitching tips and drills to develop a solid pitching game.

Tip 1 – Pitching Shot Setup

? When hitting golf pitching shots, use a lofted club such as a sand wedge (54 to 58 degrees loft) or lob wedge (59 to 62 degrees loft).
? Slightly open stance.
? Ensure that your ball position is slightly forward from the middle.
? Place your weight so that sixty percent of your weight is on your left foot and 40 percent is on your right foot – keep this weight distribution throughout the shot.
? Move hands down the grip and in front of the ball. Grip the club slightly firmer in the shot than you would for a normal golf shot.
? Keep steady pace and swing torso back and through the shot.

Tip 2 – Pitching Distance Control

? To control your distance, use the 7-8-9 golf pitching shot method where you swing your straight left arm back to the particular “hours” of a clock to achieve consistent distance control.
? For example, if you swing your left arm back to the “9-o’clock” position and hit the ball 40 yards, then your 9 o’clock shot is for 40 yard golf pitching shots. Practice this approach until you know your distance for “7 o’clock,” “8 o’clock” and “9 o’clock” shots.

Practice Drill 1 – Pitching Extended Club Drill

This pitching shot practice drill encourages firm wrist and hand position at impact.

? Grip two clubs together holding one in normal position and the other on shaft near club head. Hit 5 to 10 practice pitch shots.
? The “extended” club takes wrists out of pitch shot. If wrists “break” at impact, shaft of second club will hit left side — this should not occur with proper shot swing.

Practice Drill 2 – Pitching to Target Drill

This pitching practice drill helps aid the feel and accuracy of your shots.

? Place four or more targets at various distances from 30 to 60 yards away.
? Pitch balls to each target using your normal club for shots.
? Hit three or more shots in a row for each target; feel the backswing length necessary for each distance.
