PurePoint Golf Instruction Golf Tips Chipping – How To Avoid Hitting Fat While Chipping & Left Hip G

I just thought of a shot that I don’t see it very often, but for those of you that struggle with it, I wanted to give you a little golf tip on chipping, and I feel confident it will help you.

Do you hit fat shots when you chip the ball? In other words, do you hit the ball and it barely moves on the green?

You’ll hit it fat or you don’t hit any golf ball at all. You’ll hit it fat where you hit a little bit of golf ball, and then you’ll hit it fat where it moves, maybe 4 or 5 feet.

The correct path that your chip shot’s supposed to travel on is just slightly, ever so slightly on the inside.

Well, if you’re hitting it fat, then here’s a little golf tip on chipping. You’re going too much outside, which makes the club go too vertical.

And the correction is you feel like you’re going to swing the club a little bit more inside, and then this will give you proper impact.

So, if you’re hitting your chip shots fat, you’re too vertical.

The way to make sure that you round out the backswing is to let it travel a little bit to the inside, a little bit.

Now, of all the words and all the talk about the different parts to the golf swing, let me tell you something that is extremely important when you’re trying to drive a golf ball. It’s important whether you’re trying to hit a wedge shot.

Let me tell you the value of the left hip and what role it plays and what it means to “clear” your left hip, or get out of the way.

After you’ve addressed the golf ball and your feet, knees and hips and shoulders are all square to where you want to go, the right shoulder turns and the arms swing back. And now you’ve turned away from it and a lot of your weight is over on your right side.

Now you’re going to begin the downswing. Many weekend golfers start the downswing with the left hip moving towards the target. This is a problem golf swing.

Now, here are the two things that can happen if you do that.

From the top, if you move the hip towards the target, you’ll get inside too much and the club face won’t come back down on the arc. And, as you can tell, it’s going to take off and go to the right.

The other thing that happens as you start the downswing is that the body will stop and if the arms are quick, you’ll cross it over.

Better players hit this shot, which is a duck hook, and the weekend golfers usually hit a push.

So, here’s a great rule of thumb: the left hip, in the downswing, must go backwards. It goes around. It doesn’t go down.

So, when you start your downswing make sure that you get the left hip moving back and out of the way so the arms have a place to swing to.

Thanks and try that the next time out and I guarantee you this will help with your golf swing problem.

Golf pitching and chipping shot- know how to execute properly

Over 60% of your golf score can be attributed to the short game and the degree that you can successfully execute the golf pitching shot and golf chipping shot is critical to improving your score. To help you get the most out of your short game on or off the course, here are some critical golf pitching and chipping shot tips to become a short game master.

Golf Pitching Shot: Setup and Execution

1. The “golf pitching shot” is typically used for distances from ten to seventy yards.

2. The golf pitching shot spends more time in the air than on the ground. When hitting golf pitching shots, use a lofted club such as a sand wedge (54 to 58 degrees loft) or lob wedge (59 to 62 degrees loft).

3. Slightly open stance.

4. Ensure that your ball position is slightly forward from the middle.

5. Place your weight so that sixty percent of your weight is on your left foot and 40 percent is on your right foot. Keep this weight distribution throughout the golf pitching shot.

]]>

6. Move hands down the grip and in front of the ball. Grip the club slightly firmer in the golf pitching shot than you would for a normal golf shot.

7. Keep steady pace and swing torso back and through the golf pitching shot.

8. To control your distance, use the 7-8-9 golf pitching shot method where you swing your straight left arm back to the particular “hours” of a clock to achieve consistent distance control. For example, if you swing your left arm back to the “9-o’clock” position and hit the ball 45 yards, then your 9 o’clock shot is for 45 yard golf pitching shots. Practice this approach until you know your distance for “7 o’clock,” “8 o’clock” and “9 o’clock” shots.

Golf Chipping Shot: Setup and Execution

1. The “golf chipping shot” is typically used when your ball is 3 to 6 feet off the putting surface.

2. The golf chipping shot is used to land the ball onto the green as soon as possible toward the cup.

3. When setting up for the golf chipping shot, distribute your weight so that 60 percent of your weight is on your left leg throughout the chip shot.

4. Open your stance.

5. Position yourself so that your ball position is right of center.

6. Place your hands down the grip and in front of the ball.

7. Make a smooth, easy stroke…do not let the left wrist brick in the golf chipping shot.

8. Maintain the letter “Y” that is formed with your hands, arms and shoulders throughout the golf chipping shot stroke.

Practice these quick golf tips for the golf pitching and chipping shot regularly and watch your short game improve dramatically while your scores drop.

Know more about golf pitching practice and other shot like golf hook shot to increase your confidence. Golf instructions will help you to hit the shot in right direction.

The vast majority of thinned or fluffed chip shots occur when the clubhead overtakes the hands and is, therefore travelling on the upswing, rather that delivering a descending blow at impact.
The first thing to do at set up is to move the majority of your weight (approx.70-30) onto the left foot. The ball is played towards the back of the stance, and the hands go ahead of the ball.
The chip shot can now be played with the correct downward strike. You should NOT be trying to slide the clubface under the ball, or scoop the ball into the air.
The key now is to make sure that you keep the hands ahead of the ball and not allow your wrists to dominate the shot. Players who get “wristy” at impact run the risk of thinning it clean through the green or chunking it a few inches.

It?s no secret that the shorter game is vital to help you playing great golf game, however there are many players out there who really underestimate how crucial chipping is for generating wonderful scores. Many individuals have a tendency to focus solely on putting if they working on their quick game, however as essential as putting is, it?s not the sole determining element of having a great quick game. This content will give you some fabulous golf chipping tips that have been very useful for my golf game throughout the years. These are guidelines which have been coached to me by many teaching pros along with many which I have discovered on my own by just playing a lot of golf. I hope you enjoy them!

1)Maintain a narrow stance. The shorter the golf hit, the narrower the stance usually. This improves sense as well as control to the greens, so don?t forget to stand having your feet 8 inches apart or perhaps less.

2) Choke upon the club grip. This will shorten the golf club which will help prevent you from punching the ground ahead of the ball, which is not that hard to carry out with a chip shot. Shorter clubs are much better for shorter shots.

3)Don?t worry to remove your glove away. This is actually a personal liking of course, but yet try it out. You might be amazed at what sense you could have around the greens without using a glove.

4) Play the ball off your back foot except if you are shooting a flop shot. This is just because you can create better clubface-to-ball feel as soon as the ball is on the back of your position. The ball may come out lower and more consistently, too.

5)Put your hands forward in order that the golf club grip is directing up and in front of your front shoulder. This will also aid in ball contact and produce an even more solid golf shot.

6)Make use of your wrists. Make certain your wrists are really good and free (you do not need them too loose or you will not be able to strike through the shot, however , you have to be comfortable at the greens). Hold the club strongly but relax your wrists and hands. This can help with the sense and also control.

These are just a handful of several golf chipping tips you can use to help improve your short game and lower your handicap. For more tips and tricks on the short game, check out golf chipping tips or golf swing tips.

“Golf Chipping Tips-7 Factors To Consider In Making a Good Golf Chip, 1″

Article by Mike Lebreck

The fastest way to improve your golf score is to improve your short game. In this article, golf chipping tips, I will review seven factors to consider when chipping from around the green. The idea is to provide you with an overview to get started with so that you can turn bogeys into pars.

I believe the most important thing with any chip, or any golf shot for that matter, is to hit a crisp shot. You need to get into a position to avoid hitting your chips fat, heavy, skinning, thin, blade, chunk or any other adjective we can find.

With that in mind here are the golf chipping tips, 7 factors to consider:

1. What should my weight distribution be? In order to insure a crisp hit, your weight should be toward your front foot.

2. Where should your hands be? Again, your hands should be forward in your golf stance. This will, along with the forward weight, will promote a nice crisp hit and prevent fat or thin hits.

3. What kind of lie do you have? You need to know what kind of shots are possible from your lie. If you have a tight or bad lie, you will be limited as to the type of shots you can hit.

4. What will your lie let you do? If you have a tight or bad lie, you are not going to be able to hit any flop type shots. You will have to hit more chip and run type shots.

5: Which club you are going to use? There are different schools of thought on this but, unless you have tons of time to practice, I think the one club idea works best. What you do is pick a club, i.e. pitching wedge or sand wedge, and use that club for all chips. This way you become real proficient with that one club.

6. How far you are going to carry your chip? You need to choose a spot on the green to land your chip and let it run out to the pin. The conventional wisdom is the less carry and more run the better.

7. Do you take the pin out? Again, there are different theories but, I say, unless it definitely is going to help you, take it out.

There you have your golf chipping tips and 7 factors to consider. I don`t know if you noticed in the title, “Golf Chipping Tips-7 Factors To Consider In Making a Good Golf Chip, #1″, but this is number one. I plan to add a number two and maybe more!

I hope these golf chipping tips help you turn bogeys into pars!

Top 4 Golf Chipping Tips

Article by Daniel Poundall

Knowing how to chip the ball well is an important part of golf, but is often overlooked when it comes to learning how to play. No matter how good the rest of your golf game is the inability to chip the ball well will almost always have a negative impact on your overall game.

Chipping for some golf players can be a nightmare, especially when you’ve put in so much hard work getting the ball near the green. And wasting your chip shot is the last thing you want to do when your so close to the hole.

Here are 4 Golf Chipping Tips that will help you get on the right track to improving your golf chip:

1. Hand Position

It is important when chipping to position your hands in front of the ball. Most bad chip shots occur when players allow the clubhead to overtake their hands, resulting in an unwanted upwards strike. One of the keys to a good chip is solid impact through the ball.

2. Ball Position

Unlike most golf shots the ball should be played towards the back of the stance. Doing this will create a slight downward stroke on the ball and applying this method with the correct hand position should result in better more consistent chip shots.

3. Weight Distribution

When setting up to hit your chip shot your weight should be distributed towards your front foot. Roughly 70% on the front foot and 30% on the back foot. With the correct hand position, ball position and weight distribution you should see significant improvement in your chip shots.

4. Correct Choice Of Club

Even with the correct setup, club choice is vital and shouldn’t be overlooked when it comes to hitting your chip shot. The key thing to remember is to try and roll the ball along the green and spend as little time as possible in the air.
With that in mind it is important to know the air time to ground time ratios of each of the different clubs in your golf bag, and how to use them correctly to get your chipping distance correct.

For instance a chip shot with a pitching wedge will spend around half of its distance in the air and the other half rolling on the green.

An 8 iron will spend a third of its distance in the air and 2 thirds of its distance rolling on the green.

And a 6 iron will spend about a quarter of its distance in the air and 3 quarters of its distance rolling on the green.

It is important to also take in to account the level and speed of the green but with the right amount of time and practice these golf tips should help improve your golf chip and hopefully lower your golf score.

Golf Chipping Tips That Will Improve Your Chip Shots

Golf Chipping Tips That Will Improve Your Chip Shots

Article by Jeremy Winters

Golf is a game played in an outside course with about 9-18 holes spaced out at a distance from one another. The primary goal of the game is simply to drive a small-sized hard ball into each and every hole utilizing different golf clubs with the least number of strokes.

Chipping the ball is actually a major shot that an individual should learn in the game of golf. A good chip shot means sending the ball as near to the hole as you possibly can and thereby rolling it straight into the hole. Moreover, it is going to help the golfer to make improvements to his score. The following are a few golf chipping tips to help you attain your golfing goals and to in addition get better at the technique of chipping.

Your hand position on a golf club is a critical factor when striking a chip shot. The grip employed for chipping must always be the same as when swinging a club in full length. The hands should be placed down on the club grip close to the shaft. This tends to make it possible for the golf player to obtain good control over the club in the course of a stroke. On the other hand, while hitting a stroke, you should place the ball in between the legs and the hands must be positioned in front of the ball.

The other key requirement is to pick the proper golf club for chipping. The chip shot can be played using the 8 iron or 9 iron club. Furthermore, this iron has to be utilized just for a chip shot and never to hit any other shots. The best club will help in saving the amount of strokes.

Yet another of the key golf chipping tips will be to distribute your weight on the left side all through a chip stroke. This tends to assist you to stay away from shifting your weight back or forward. Applying minimum body motions, especially in the lower part of the body, will allow you to accomplish a better shot.

Yet another vital issue to be thought of during chipping will be to steer clear of chunk shots. This type of shot basically takes place whenever the golf club strikes the ground in full force and not the ball. This can keep you from hitting a chip shot and also the ball will not move in the needed direction.

6-8-10 is really a widely used method of chipping that has proven to help players in striking ideal chip shots. The strategy uses particular ratios to roll a ball in the direction of the hole. This ratio is worked out on the basis of the air and ground time when striking a ball with different clubs. This strategy is considered ideal for players proficient in chipping.

Players who follow these basic golf chipping tips can make a huge difference in their overall score. Apply these recommendations carefully during your next game and you should notice a major improvement in your final results.

Your Short Game And Golf Chipping Tips

Article by Kevin Phillips

The short game is very important as most golfers know. Golf chipping is an important part of the short game and you will find a few golf chipping tips right here.

To begin with you need to appreciate that around the green there are a few types of golf chipping technique to understand. There are many ways and techniques to learn around the greens, not just one method. The quality of your chipping is dictated to by the surface you are playing off, the quality of the lie and also depends on the distance you are from the hole.

Let us begin by explaining basic golf chipping. This chip is executed from just off the green. Your clubs of choice for this type of chip are the wedges or an 8/9iron. A good guideline is to make the ball land on the green and roll for most of it’s journey as opposed to flying it most of the way which is a more difficult shot. You should play this shot from an open stance with the ball position more towards your back foot, weight forward and hands ahead of the ball.

Our next golf chipping tip takes a look at the flop shot. This is a great shot to have in your bag as the ball flies most of the way to the pin and settles softly with little or no roll. You need lofted clubs to get this shot right so most of the time the choice of club should be a sand iron or a lob wedge if you have one.

With the flop shot you need to open the club face a bit. Keep your hands behind the clubhead with the ball positioned off of your front foot for this swing. To pull off this shot you need to accelerate the club through impact. A high flight over a short distance with a soft landing is the perfect result when you execute this shot correctly.

The low chip shot comes into play when you have a lot of green between you and the pin. Longer clubs are needed for this type of chip so don’t be afraid to try the six and seven iron or even the 3-4 and 5 irons if the distance demands it. Position the ball back in your stance to create the correct downward strike required. Once again you should align the clubface to the target and keep your hands ahead through impact.

The important thing here is the ball is rolling most of the way with this type of chip, so you have more control and will be able to judge the distance better.

The best thing to come from all these golf chipping tips is the need to practice with every iron in the bag if you want to become a better golfer around the greens. Practice your new found golf chipping skills until you perfect them and they become comfortable as this is the best way to improve any part of your golf game.

Most top golfers spend hours on their short games because this is where the game is won and lost. Put these golf chipping tips to good use and practice them as much as possible.
